Holiday Entitlement Calculator

Hi all,

With our Business growing like there is no tomorrow, we are looking for a reliable holiday calculator.

Our entitlement for the year is 25 days (if working full time).  We would normally work it out by calculating 25 / 12 * number of months worked  - making it 2.08 days per month.

With people starting in the middle of the month or mid-week - it can sometimes be tricky to work out entitlement!

Also, as an example, we have a girl starting today full time - but she will only be working 5 hours per day from 23rd July - 3rd September (school hols)... Confusing!!

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Thanks in advance,

Ashley

  • Your welcome, glad it made sense :)

  • Great, thanks a lot Mags - that makes sense :)

  • We work out our holidays as follows but don't know if it will help, for example. We get 23 plus banks and have to save 3 days for Christmas

someone working 5 days a week starting on the 1 August 2013, we would calculate the holidays as follows.

    23+(8 bank holidays) = 31

    31 / 365 x 153 days   = 12.9 we always round up = 13 days

13 days less 1 bank holiday for August and 2 for christmas period = 9.9 (10 days left to take)

so for you it would be

25+ 8 = 31 /365 x 42 days = 3.7 (4) less 1 bank holiday = 3 days entitlement. as she works the same hours everyday that won't matter if she did different hours then you would have to turn the holidays into hours.

    Hope all that makes sense.

  • Hi Verity,

It doesn't actually help as the entitlement is 28 and it won't give you the option to change :(

    Thanks though!

  • Hi Ashley

I have been using the government website, they have a calculator on there which i found very useful as they calculate part time hours for you, give it a go.

    https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-holiday-entitlement

    Hope this helps.

  • Have you seen this government statutory tool?

    https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-holiday-entitlement

Don't know if this can be used?

  • Thanks a lot Mike :)!

  • Hi Ashley
