Who We Are

A local, user-led charity, dedicated to creating a society where disabled people feel valued, included and have real choice.

Our organisation began in 2000, as an advocacy provider for disabled people and their families across the Wigan Borough, however, with the support of our volunteers and employees, we now offer a wide range of services all committed to reaching our goal of a truly inclusive society.

The services we provide include, behaviour support, community connecting, circles of support, information advice and guidance, travel training and support planning. Our particular area of expertise is effecting positive change in the lives of children, young people and adults who have complex needs.

Our staff and volunteers are all dedicated and committed, with a wealth of relevant experience and skills.  As a user-led organisation, many of our staff and volunteers have first-hand experience of the issues, challenges and dilemmas faced by beneficiaries, enabling them to be empathetic and knowledgeable.

What We Are Looking For

An HR professional who would relish being a member of an innovative growing Charity by working with a strategic management group (Consisting of the Senior Management Team and Volunteers) to develop its future within the local community.

You would help us to develop our overall strategy along with a specific remit to help us to develop or update our HR policies.  The Strategic Management Group meet as a group around 4 or 5 times a year with individual members meeting when specific functions may need strategic guidance.  Whilst members are free to offer as much time as they feel they want to, we envisage a time commitment of around 16 hours per year.

If being part of our strategic group appeals to you please contact Chris Hamnet (Fieldwork Manager and Member of the Strategic Management Group) email: c.hamnett@embracewiganandleigh.org.uk. Telephone: 01942 233323.
