After co-hosting September’s Street Wisdom, Learn Connect Do are delighted to welcome Cat Hase back. This time she’s going to be sharing her skills as a sketch-a-graphic artist so that we too can make work visual and engaging.

[Important note - you don't need to be an artist to attend!]

Cat’s mission is to make learning fun. Whether through interactive team development or through visual communication, the idea is to increase engagement and learning, ultimately helping people do their best work.

Visual communication is becoming increasingly popular as people are inundated with more and more information, and those wanting to communicate are seeking ways for messages to be easily received and understood. Visuals help with understanding, retention and recall, as well as with making it more interesting and engaging for the audience.

The session will guide you through creating a visual for some real work you are currently doing (or planning). And it's open to all - whether you haven’t picked up a pencil since school, you’re always doodling away or you call yourself an artist – if doesn’t matter – the session is aimed at everyone! Materials will be provided and help will be at hand.

"Completely, in bureaucratic, hierarchical organisations or ones with a particular brand of toxic leadership this can happen, either by accident or design. Power/responsibility can give people a false sense of their own ability, there are a plethora…"

I think listening is one of the most under rated skills. As a manager I have a number of considerations around this
1. Intention - showing up for a meeting with your team and having the intention of really hearing what they have to say otherwise why…

"I thing those words are on the money Will. Value and respect.
I agree that no one person has the monopoly on good ideas. Do you think in some situations it can unwittingly happen though where one or two people do indeed have a monopoly on good ideas…"

Eva McCann commented on Ady Howes's blog post Surrounded by people who have nothing significant to say?
"I like you calling it a listening mindset. I hadn't thought of naming it before, but perhaps 'listening with intent'? You can listen all you like if you have not intent of reflecting on what you'll hear. If you've already made up your mind about the…"

"Without prejudice! That's the one... just there. Open ears, unbiased and truly and actively listening.
Any thoughts on the 'mindset' that leaders must have to demonstrate that quality?"
