Celebrating a great partnership!

Celebrating a great partnership!

We're proud to announce we are now the CIPD's sole partner to deliver the CIPD Advanced Level 7 qualifications via Flexible Learning+.

This has got us thinking about other favourite partnerships of all time.

10. Ben and Jerry

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield were childhood friends from New York. When neither of them could get into the roles they initially dreamed of (Jerry wanted to be a doctor) they completed a correspondence course on Ice cream. In 1978 they opened their first parlour, and today they are one of the biggest ice cream brands in the world.

9. Will Smith and Carlton Banks

You know the song…"Now this is the story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down". The Fresh Prince of Bel Air ran from 1990-96 and was one of the best loved shows of its time. Both Will and Carlton were inseparable at the time. The show propelled particularly Will Smith into the movie star he is today.

8. Sonny and Cher

Sonny & Cher were an American pop music duo, actors, singers and entertainers made up of husband-and-wife team Sonny and Cher Bono in the 1960s and 1970s. In over a decade Sonny and Cher sold over 40 million records worldwide.

7. Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs and cofounder Steve Wozniak grew up together as neighbourhood friends before putting their heads together to create super-brand, Apple.

6. Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent

Redgrave and Pinsent became rowing legends for their outstanding success in the Olympics. The duo teamed up to sweep golds in Barcelona in 1992, Atlanta in 1996 and again in 2000.

5. Fox Mulder & Dana Scully (David Duchovny & Gillian Anderson)

This is a fictitious partnership but is certainly worth including. Together Mulder and Scully solved a number of superstitious mysteries between 1993 and 2002. They even had a song dedicated to them by Welsh star, Catatonia back in 1998. Rumours are rife that the duo are about to hit our screens again in the not too distant future…

4. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean

Torvill and Dean go down in history for their phenomenal record in ice dancing. At the 1984 Winter Olympics, they broke figure skating records by earning maximum 6.0 scores from every judge.

3. Larry Page and Sergey Brin

Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded the multi-billion pound internet giant Google in September 1998. Today the company has more than 40,000 employees worldwide, with a management team that represents some of the most experienced technology professionals in the industry

2. Morecambe and Wise

Eric Morecambe (John Eric Bartholomew) and Ernie Wise (Ernest Wiseman), were usually referred to as Morecambe and Wise. They worked in variety, radio, film and most successfully in television. Their partnership lasted for 43 years until Morecambe's death in 1984.  In September 2006, they were voted by the general public as number 2 in a poll of TV's 50 Greatest Stars.

1. Lennon and McCartney

John Lennon and Paul McCartney were members of one of the biggest bands of all time, The Beatles. Between 1962 and 1969, the partnership published approximately 180 jointly credited songs, of which the vast majority were recorded by the Beatles. Along with the rest of The Beatles, the band enjoyed 17 number one hits, which is only bettered by Elvis Presley with 21.
