I am looking to sit the CIPD Level 3 Certificate in L&D Practice
Has anyone from an L&D team in a law/accountancy firm completed this? and if so, would you recommend it?
Could you give me some feedback to help with my business case to get it approved for me to sit this qualification.
Many thanks
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,
It's nice to virtually meet you. I'm one of the Level 3 facilitators here at DPG and although I don't have all the answers I can provide some guidance for you.
Regardless of your industry, this qualification helps you provide an improved, more efficient and cost-effective service to your business and your stakeholders within the business.
A recent participant had been in L&D for many years without having the 'formal qualification' and has now just qualified with us and her feedback has been about how eye-opening she found it, in terms of opening up new ideas and ways of doing things (which she hadn't previously considered), as well as working out where they are just 'putting on a course' for the sake of it, as well as realising the value of measuring programmes and evaluating if they're making a difference.
From a business case perspective, there is so much I can think of...
- Learning how to link to business strategy, so all learning is aligned to the business and it's objectives
- Working out how to design interactive, engaging learning programmes, using accelerated learning techniques, which help people learn more effectively, therefore increasing retention and transfer to role
- Cutting down design, development and delivery time
- Maximising the 70/20/10 approach - 70% of learning happening on the job, 20% learning through informal development and 10% through formal learning interventions, such as training courses
- Importantly, learning how to evaluate learning interventions to prove or disprove to the business the value of it's spending in the area of L&D
I encourage you to take an honest look at your organisation and it's L&D activities and identify areas linked with the above which you can then link to the above bullet points to emphasise your personal case.
Good luck and let me know if I can help further,
Zoe
Hi Zoe,
Thank you so much for coming back to me, that is very useful and will be a big help for my business case.
Are you aware of anybody in particular who has completed this from an accountancy/law firm who could give me their views directly?
Only because this will be the first time my firm has paid for someone to sit this type of qualification so need a lot of back up to support why it will be of benefit to both myself and the business. If they see that other accountancy/law firms have sent people on this it may help to persuade them.
Many thanks
Cheryl
Hi Cheryl,
I've looked through the sectors of my recent group and here's the areas they work in:
Banking, insurance, NHS, Microsoft, Government, Funeralcare, Finance, Local government, Energy, Hospitality and Management, Retail, Car hire and Charity.
I'm not sure if any of these are really what you're asking for, however if you spot one you'd like to hear more from, let me know and I'll link you up!
I'll also ask one of the team to do a little more research and let you know if they know anyone outside the Midlands who may be able to help out.
Thanks
Zoe
morning Zoe,
I hope you had a lovely weekend.
Could you link me to the banking and finance people.
Many thanks for this.
Cheryl
