Hi
I am interested to hear peoples views on eLearning authoring tools, in particular those that are cloud based. We are investigating options to update the the very old screen capture tool we have with something that can quickly and effectively design large amounts of engaging IT eLearning (mainly SAP) , but but also allow us to generate more compliance and leadership skills learning in house. Articulate is the obvious choice, but as it is not cloud based, it will take months of work with our IT teams and our infrastructure is not the best at supporting this type of thing.
Can anyone recommend a great online tool that will deliver quality results?
Thanks
Rosie

Hi Rosie.
One tools that's definitely worth a try is nimbleAuthor. I bought this solution when working for a big multinational a few years ago and they are still going great guns with it. It's really intuitive to use (they have about 30 active editors now) and comes with a very user-friendly built-in LMS (if required.) I still use it today. Doesn't have a built-in screen capture facility, but videos can be uploaded or embedded.
Immediate hands-on with authoring tool available here (but sign up for the free trial to save your work.)
Happy to elaborate.
Paul.
PS more info here too.
Thanks Paul. Screen capture is top of the list as the primary use will be for our IT learning. I will take a look though.
Lectora's very good. Cloud-based and they've just rolled out their first responsive version too: http://trivantis.com/products/lectora-online-authoring/
It has a lot of similarities in terms of functionality to the Articulate products, but we've found it to be better on tablet and mobile devices than Storyline.
Thanks Hannah. I'll take a look. it sounds promising!
Hi Rosie,
I've been in favour of Articulate Storyline and Adobe Capivate in the production of online learning. Understand your challenges in getting this implemented. I do wonder though if there is anything that can be done to speed this up. This may pay dividends further down the line when it comes to introducing other tech.
I'm intrigued by cloud-based systems to develop online learning and would be interested to keep up to date with your journey with all this. I haven't any experience of these, but if it helps I've found this link from the Elearning Industry that lists 55 cloud based authoring tools.
A lot to choose from but hopefully this helps to start narrow things down. http://elearningindustry.com/the-ultimate-list-of-cloud-based-autho...
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

Hi Ady,
Thanks for the link that will really help. I would love Articulate, but due to the nature of our IT systems (Citrix) and the other higher priority projects (well so they say!) we are well down the list hence the implementation time. I haven't ruled it out, but as we need it in multiple locations there isn't a quick option of putting on a laptop rather than the server.
I will keep you updated!
Rosie
Ah. I understand. Yes Citrix with it's benefits I guess also holds you back when you want to step outside and use different software. Wondering whether the software you want to capture is cloud-based too, or whether it's all inside Citrix?
Really surprised that the Adapt authoring tool isn't in the list (or I couldn't see it anyway)
Worth checking out Rosie - Adapt
Thanks Mike. Interesting you should say Adapt. I am looking at that this afternoon! via Learning Pool.
