Hi All,

I am currently deciding what direction to take for my next L&D qualification.  I am split between a Masters in L&D or continuing to study the CIPD Level 7 in HRD.  Not sure which qualification will be more valued within the L&D world.  Both seem to cover very similar areas and appeal to me for similar reasons.  The Masters route is also less expensive than the CIPD route. Would be grateful for peoples advice or personal experience.

  • I am in the same boat as you, I am not sure what to decide. Have you spoken to the CIPD to get some advice?

  • I think that's an interesting question David. I dont have the experience to comment on the two courses. ( im currently doing the L7 HRD but have no knowledge of the masters course.)

As an outsider to HR, i would think that "a masters" is a very well recognised level of learning and it might be more " transferrable" to roles outside of HR.

I think CIPD is well recognised within HR but perhaps not necessarily fully understood outside of HR.

I might be wrong, but that is how I see it. Whichever you choose I'm sure you'll learn loads and thoroughly enjoy it, so best of luck in your endeavours :)
