Happy September! Hope you all had a good bank holiday weekend.
I've just read this article on the Netflix effect on training: http://www.inc.com/donna-wells/the-netflix-effect-on-training.html
It highlights three areas where we can shift approach in learning design to better fit with how we consume content as consumers. They are:
- Focus on authentic content that is timely and relevant - don't worry so much about having the highest production values
- Make content available to be consumed at any time and any place - so less timetabled face to face sessions
- Add instant feedback into webinars - move from a broadcast approach to one that invites feedback and response
If consumers are consuming content in this way, shouldn't we be designing for that? Be interested in what you think about the piece and the implications for how you are designing learning.
