Time spent on e-learning

Morning All,

We're introducing e-learning and in our new offices have created a bank of desks as a "learning zone". We're interested to know how much time companies recommend people spend doing things like e-learning as opposed to classroom training, etc.?

There are of course subjects where people need to have a certain amount (annual refresher training, compliance, etc.), but very generally - do you recommend xx hours per month/year that people should do e-learning (or similar) or is it just left up to individuals/managers?

  • Hi Becky,

I'm wondering what industry you work in. The only time I'd suggest targeting hours per month/year is if there is a requirement to learn for a particular number of hours set by for example a regulatory body.

Outside of that, I'm not sure whether stipulating a minimum number of hours is wise. I'm from the camp that says time should be at a level to get the learning done and no more.

    What's your views?
