This is an excerpt from Training and Coaching Today, in Oct 2008 but I thought it would be useful to do an up-to-date poll: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3YKRNYH
"In an online poll last month, exhibition and conference organiser World of Learning asked 267 L&D professionals to name the key barriers to learning retention. They are:
1. Lack of line manager buy-in (40% of respondents)
2. Lack of follow-up exercises (37%)
3. Lack of coaching and/or mentoring (25%)
4. Lack of learner buy-in (24%)
5. Lack of clearly defined objectives (23%)
6. Lack of measurement (18%)
7. Lack of preparation (10%)
Andrew Gee, World of Learning project manager, said: "Over and above the survey results, we have found there is growing concern about the lack of on-going support and development guidance.
"It is a constant battle for learning and development professionals to ensure that line managers place their employees' ongoing development as a high priority on a day-to-day level. So learners can often leave courses with insufficient skills to help them follow through on what they have learned."
Please be honest in your responses and leave your details so that I can email you the results of the survey
