Hi Everyone,
We are currently looking to move to annualised hours. It is early days at the moment and I am trying to gather as much data as possible.
We are a manufacturing business, with approx 130 staff. At the moment we run one shift pattern, but are looking to possibly change this as well.
Has anyone else gone through this process? Any advice / Info greatfully received.
Thanks
Sarah

Hi Sarah
Thanks for the interesting post.
We had a maintenance facility which was responsible for refurbishing turbines when the power stations were on outage so lots of hours in the summer but none in the winter when the plant was running.
So in my experience this requires establishing the business case rationale in terms of the cost savings for the business and the commercial aspects, then the establishment of working groups involving the people who actually work the shift, also lots of consultation and negotiation! As the site was heavily unionised we involved the unions from the initial idea stage. I would say involving the staff was also key as we were able to jointly develop a solution which worked for both the Company and the staff.
There is lots of research on annualised hours, and I have included a link below.
