I'm looking for advice on what other organisations would do if an employee wanted to return to work before the Fit Note expired?

Did you know that if you go to the list of members, the Members Online button will show you who is online right now? Why not say hello?
Did you know your local CIPD branch will put on relevant events that are free to CIPD members.
Take a look for your local branch here and what events are happening. Remember attending these events are great CPD evidence.

In the past I have also asked employers to check their employer liability insurers are ok with employees returning to work just to be belt and braces.
Hope this helps
Hi Jennifer,
We've had this a couple of times and tend to look at it on a case by case basis. Sometimes we've asked the individual to go back to the doctors and ask to be signed back on (so that we have an updated fit note on file). Other times we've just asked the employee to email to confirm that they're aware the doctor signed them off for longer but they feel well enough to come back to work and that it's their decision to do so.
Hope that helps.
Becky
Thanks Becky, that's really helpful. I like the idea of having something in writing from them and am thinking we can do this on the Return to Work form which they sign
