A common question and I thought I would post some useful info.
In your work you will need to include a list of references and a bibliography (don't worry these are not included in your word count). Baiscally references are anything you refer to in the body of your report. The bibliography contains anything which you have read or reviewd in order to contribute to your work but you have not directly cited it or used it within your report.
