Hi All,
A plea for help to all of the CIPD community that recruits graduates in their organisations.
I work in a higher education institution which is currently working really hard to help our students become the graduates of choice for recruiters upon leaving University, by helping them develop the skills and experience graduate recruiters are looking for. I am currently conducting my research into this and would really appreciate your insights.
What sector is your organisation in?
What sort of roles do you recruit recent graduates into?
What skills are you looking for in graduates?
Do you expect graduates that apply for your programmes to have any experience in the field before applying?
How much weighting do you give in your recruitment processes to competency, personality, skills and achievement
Would an additional qualification/ accredited courses, on top of a graduates degree make them stand out more? eg. ILM, Train the Trainer, First Aid at Work, etc.
Anything else you would like to add, feel would be a benefit to the research.
Thank you so much in advance to all who help,
Best Wishes,
Lisa

This is a really good point Lisa, my daughter is in her final year of her PR degree at Lincoln University. I am concerned that she will be one of many graduating and not getting a job after all her had work. She has produced a really interesting CV I will ask her if I can up load it for you to look at, it is very visual.
Hi Gill,
It is a concern for many graduates as things become more competitive in the graduate job market, which is why I want to try and do what I can to help them prepare while they are still at University with us. Thank you for getting in touch, that would be very interesting thank you and all my best to your daughter for her final year :-)
