Just as customers are best placed to determine how good your products and services are, employees are armed with their own views on how much they would recommend your organisation as being a great place to work.
Perhaps the organisation that is best placed to compile this data is Glassdoor. They hold a growing database of millions of company reviews, CEO approval ratings, salary reports, interview reviews and questions, benefits reviews, office photos and more. All of this information is entirely shared by those who know a company best — the employees.
Recently, Glassdoor published their list of 2018 Best Places to Work. Consisting of 50 organisations, the league table gives a headline view of what was said about Glassdoor. However, given the reviews and information on Glassdoor can be viewed publicly, there’s a chance to dive into the detail of why each organisation ranks so highly as a great place to work.
As professionals involved in HR, we should be interested in this information. We should be looking at what the best of the best are doing and learning what we can, whilst also continually critiquing our own organisations and what we could do to move ourselves closer to being on the league table.
