It was World Mental Health Day on Saturday and to mark the day the Mental Health Foundation shared a lot of useful resources, including this slide deck of stats. There are more here. Note that 70 million working days are lost a year in the UK due to mental illnesses. It's a huge issue. How does your organisation support colleagues with mental ill health? And what's the role of L&D here?

Thanks for raising this Martin on what is often something that isn't given a lot of space or time.
It's an interesting one for L&D - it is about awareness, doing things differently, supporting people who need help or is it about showing empathy and understanding?
One of the things that this has reminded me of is the Mental Blocks site - they have a twitter account here as well.
I really like the way that they use images and stories using Lego to raise awareness on important matters.
It's a resource well worth looking at
Thanks for sharing those resources, Mike!
Thanks for the share, the stigma seems to be less these days as the awareness of mental health issues becomes more prevalent and diagnosis a little more accessible (but not that much, given austerity measures and cuts to NHS services).
You're welcome, Jason. The Mental Health Foundation provides some good supporting stats and resources here: http://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/our-work/world-mental-health-day/wor...
I think the Mental Blocks - http://www.thementalblocks.com/ - also does a great job of sharing real life, day to day work experiences.
Thanks Martin, I'll check those resources out. As the father of a son with autism and ADHD the world of work seems daunting in his future and these things help lighten the load of future challenges.
Thanks, Jason. I wonder if others in the community have other resources to share. Let's see!
