Hi
We are reviewing our appraisal process and are considering adding scoring (something we do not currently do).
Does anyone have a system that uses scoring that they would be able to share and whether or not it is simple to use so that managers are not put off?
Many thanks
Julie

Hi Julie,
Great topic, what is the reason for you wanting to move to a scoring system? The reason I ask is that I spotted an article this morning from CIPD that stated Appraisals deemed 'unfair' by a third of employees. It's an interesting read below
Appraisals deemed ‘unfair’ by a third of employees, finds CIPD
In my time at a large insurance company they operated a number scoring system that was linked to performance related pay depending on organisational perfomance
5 - Constantly exceeded objectives and up to 14% bonus
4 - Exceeded objectives and up to 9% bonus
3 - Hit objectives - depending on performance descretionary bonus
2 - Did not hit objectives - no bonus and action plan to improve
1 - Poor Performance - no bonus and likely p45
I've heard other organisations use a lighting system i.e Green, Amber, Red but I guess it's what you want to ultimately drive within your business.
